Tibetan People Photos
In Tibet I'd expected to be blown away by the dramatic mountains and landscapes, but for me, the people were definitely the stars of the show.
Seeing and hearing the Sikhs chanting holy verses on their pilgrim to Punjab's Golden Temple, and possibly the Sudanese along the Nile River during Ramadan, are the only places I've been where the people come close to the Tibetans for authentic devotion.
As the world modernizes and becomes increasingly global, it's refreshing to see people like the Tibetans continuing to live by their traditional values, wearing their authentic garb and revering their religion, its idols and temples as they have for millenia.
Tibet doesn't have a just one or two locals in costumes putting on traditional dances for tourists or flogging their wares around the temples; the majority of the Tibetans are the real deal. Here are a few snaps, click on the photos for a larger image...

Hardy yaks enjoying the cold at the monastery at Mt. Everest base camp. Yaks play a pivotal role in the Tibetan's survival in often harsh conditions, providing wool, leather, meat, milk, cheese, butter, candles (from the butter), tea (also from the butter), transport, fuel (the poop) and ploughing. Even the bones are used for soup and decoration.
